ZINGARO NATURE RESERVE

Relatively Few miles separate the Sporting Club Village from the Zingaro Nature Reserve, a charming and precious flora and fauna biosystem
The Zingaro Natural Reserve is famous in the world as an extreme and rare example of biodiversity conservation. A long and precious system of paths crossing the coast and lying in the ground to bring us to the discovery of a world far away from the habitual habit that we are used to living every day.
Early morning hikes are also available for families with children aged 7 to 12 who are also ideal for taking a swim in the hottest hours of the day.
The reserve contains about 670 plant inflamed taxa, some of which endemic and rare. Of these 502 are dicotyledons, 153 monocotyledons 3 gymnosperms and 10 pteridophytes. Of great interest is the lichen flora which contains 130 species for the reserve, while for the moss are known 35 species. There were also 27 species of fungi (macromycetes) found in the reserve area, of which the most representative family is Tricholomataceae. Endemic fanoglobin species account for 6.3% of the total species of the reserve and 1.6% of the Sicilian flora [4]. Different Mediterranean ecosystems are represented, partially modified by residues of agricultural activity.
The original landscape consisted mostly of evergreen Mediterranean forest (xerofila forest), whose traces are still represented by lichen areas, where little ferns, cyclamen, pungitopo bushes, and, to the west of the reserve, are also found in fragments of corky, testimony of that cork forest formation almost completely disappeared in the rest of western Sicily. However, the most peculiar aspect of the reserve is the dwarf palm grove, which features large areas of the coastal landscape and that in the Zingaro district, where Chamaerops humilis are found to reach 2-3 m in height, it is relevant to stain .
The predominant landscape in the coastal areas is that of low scrub characterized by the sparse villous (Calicotome villosa), the fragrant broom, the wild thyme, the olive tree, the euphorbia arborea and the euphorbia of Bivona. There are also laurel, mauve, capper wild fennel. Among the emerging rocks develop the ranunculus, hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis) and the endemic Allium lehmannii. Finally, the species introduced for cultivation include almond, manna ash, carob and vine. Mediterranean prairie to ampelodesma is the dominant aspect of the vegetation landscape of the upper part of the reserve; is mainly represented by some and from the Mediterranean poodle;
It also hosts endemic species such as thymus spinosus (Thymus spinulosus), Sicilian giaggiolo (Iris pseudopumila), Linares (Romulea linaresii), spiderworm (Delphinium emarginatum) and Silene sicula, as well as uncommon species such as the autumn mandrake esoteric . More than 40 species of endemic species have been described, including a special mention of the rarely lynx of Todaro (Limonium todaroanum) found at 750 m high on the cliffs of Monte Passo del Lupo, exclusive of Zingaro. Flamonium Limonium, Helichrysum roupestre var. Finally, more than 25 species of wild orchids can be encountered, including crescent orphus (Ophrys lunulata), endemic Sicily, and sub-endemic Orchis brancifortii, Ophrys oxyrrhynchos and Neotinea commuted.
